Founder : Woodlands Lions Football Academy (WLFA)
Mr R Vengadasalam, better know as Coach Venga, is a household name in Singapore’s footballing scene. He is a pioneer change maker and is an admired maverick of the sport, best known for founding Woodlands Wellington FC in 1996 and then going on to break records including full house attendance for every match and impressive win streaks.
Coach Venga put together Woodlands Lions Football Academy (WLFA) as he is a strong believer of elite football and mentoring the youth to play that level of football. He identifies the sport as a successful way to keep youth out of trouble and deems it his duty to do so whilecontributing to the development of local football.
Throughout his career, he has founded, molded and paved the way for numerous footballers, many of whom are incredibly successful today. With WLFA, he aims to impart the wisdom of yesterday’s football into today’s youth.
“I had a dream to lead a football team out into the national stadium with 50000 people watching and it came true in 1996. You have to dream to achieve these things”, said Coach Venga in a recent interview. With WLFA, he aims to teach your children how to dream but more importantly, how to achieve those dreams.
